Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements (ICHRAs) are changing the way employers can approach employee health benefits. This foundational program gives HR professionals a practical understanding of how ICHRAs work, the rules that shape them, and how they compare with traditional group health insurance. Participants will explore the business and workforce considerations that can make an ICHRA a viable option, while examining the decision through the perspectives of HR, employers, and employees. Through practical examples and real-world scenarios, participants will build the knowledge needed to participate confidently in conversations about whether an ICHRA may be right for their organization.

After participating in this program, you will be able to:

  • Explain the fundamental structure, rules, and requirements of Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements (ICHRAs). 
  • Compare ICHRAs with traditional group health insurance, including key differences in employer cost, employee choice, administration, and the employee experience. 
  • Assess the business and workforce factors that may influence whether an ICHRA is an appropriate health benefits strategy for an organization. 
  • Evaluate ICHRA options from multiple stakeholder perspectives and identify key questions HR professionals should consider when participating in benefits strategy and implementation decisions.

About the Presenter

Annette Bechtold is a leadership advisor, executive coach, educator, and employee benefits strategist with more than 44 years of experience in leadership, insurance, and employee benefits. She is the founder of Forte Consulting Atlanta, where she helps organizations and leaders build stronger teams through executive coaching, leadership development, organizational consulting, and strategic facilitation. Annette also serves as Education Program Manager for HRA Council, leading educational programming and professional development initiatives focused on Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs) and consumer-directed health care. A nationally recognized speaker, Annette combines extensive industry expertise with strengths-based leadership coaching to make complex topics practical, engaging, and actionable.
